test driving the syncro
So I convince Emma to take a quick vacation to NY, where we did a night in Canada for fun.
Our flight was nice.
We landed, unpacked at our Air B n B and then headed over to check out the Syncro...
A few dents and rust air holes here and there. She is amazing and for being 30 years in a salt state have been well kept considerably well. I was giving a fat stack off pretty much all the mechanical receipts and maintenance records including the original vanagon handbook. Nice!
Turns out the previous owner had another Syncro using for doner parts. And had given me both of them. Unfortunately I didn't have enough funds to transplant them both to California. :/ In hindsight I should have at least taken the extra Syncro Transmission with me.
Even so Emma and I started stripping the second Syncro for anything that we thought might be useful for a rainy day.
We a test drove ti to a mechanic and thoroughly had it looked through. They found some things and re torqued a few bolt.
He for a 30 year old machine she is pretty good.
Ronnie became an addition to our family.
Unfortunately it would be almost 3 months before we could actually drive her.
Bad timing due to winter holidays kept her away in the dark winter storms of New York from November till end of January. Luckily covered in a garage. It would be a long winter...
