Fixing erratic volume knob

Talk about a bad case of hysteria. This volume knob is so erratic that I sometime just leave it off! The volume randomly jump up high and low, its got a mind of it own!.

Not sure if this cleaning method will work but it is worth giving it a try before I chuck for a new nicer stereo…
